James Bond - Drink and Shaken Funda

Bond's Drink - Vodka Martini (also called as Vesper)

Preparation - 3 measures of Gordon's gin, 1 of vodka, 1/2 measure of Kina Lillet (brand of vermounth). Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon-peel.
(Note: It is different from regular traditional martini which is made with gin, dry vermouth and either an olive or a lemon peel. Nothing else)

Why does Bond do that - Vodka martini drinkers are supposed to be more open to experimentation and allow more variations to carry the name of their drink

The funda behind a Shaken Martini as opposed to Stirred - Three reasons
(1) A shaken martini is usually colder than one stirred, since the ice has had a chance to swish around the drink more.
(2) Shaking a martini dissolves air into the mix; this is the "bruising" of the gin you may have heard seasoned martini drinkers complain about--it makes a martini taste too "sharp."
(3) A shaken martini will more completely dissolve the vermouth, giving a less oily mouth feel to the drink.
